MISSION STATEMENTJonah Ministries is dedicated to presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ and promoting spiritual growth in a Christian environment through fun, God-honoring Camps and Retreats.
GOALS/FILTERThe vision of Jonah Ministries is to: 1. Be a prayer-based ministry 2. Have our ministry support churches and other ministries 3. Encourage others to be involved in a ministry, using their talents and spiritual gifts 4. Be more about ministry than money 5. Be community friendly 6. Be more concerned with quality than quantity 7. Use creation to draw campers to the Creator 8. Continually train our staff 9. Challenge each volunteer, employee, camper, staff, and board member to take the next step in their walk with the Lord 10. Keep God as the Camp Director
PROGRAM PLANNING COMMITMENTS1. We are committed to using small groups for most of our learning activities. This promotes more interaction and personal contact. Our Counselor to Camper ratio will be 1:8 or less. 2. We will choose staff members who are committed to modeling an exemplary Christian walk. They will endeavor to “walk the walk” through daily quiet times, enthusiasm, modesty, and obedience to Jesus Christ. 3. The counselor will be committed to building relationships by praying for the camper before, during and after camp. The counselor will know each camper’s name within an hour after meeting them. The counselor will spend time individually with each camper each day. 4. Each counselor will be committed to one-on-one times with each camper individually, with the goal in mind of challenging each camper to a decision to take the next step in their walk with the Lord. 5. We encourage each staff member to spend time after camp with follow-up contacts with campers for the purpose of encouraging them in their spiritual walk. JM will reimburse the staff and counselors for postage, etc. 6. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God, without error, and authoritative in the original writings. We will teach it as such and encourage memorization of Scripture for our staff and campers. 7. We are committed to presenting Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and that salvation is through faith in Christ alone. 8. We desire to keep each day full of planned activities, and not to have big chunks of free time. It is our goal to continue adding new and fun activities to our program, and to use creation to draw campers to the Creator 9. We are committed to providing a learning environment that is characterized as being safe, wholesome, secure, and fun! 10. Our staff will use “teachable moments” as a way to reach campers. We realize that often the unplanned moments are the most valuable in reaching a camper.
Statement of Faith 1. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is without error, infallible and authoritative in the original writings. 2. We believe in one God, eternally living in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. 3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His miraculous virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary death and atonement through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His personal return in power and glory. 4. We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, that faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and rebirth by the Spirit are essential. 5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. 6. We believe in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life eternal. 7. We believe in the spiritual unity of the Church, which is the Body or the Bride of Christ, made up by all who are spiritually reborn through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. |
