"O Lord, my God, you have done many
miracles for us. Your plans are too numerous to list. If I tried
to recite all your wonderful deeds, I would never come to the end
of them." (Psalm 40:5 )

THANKSGIVING
I have so
many things to be thankful for that if I were to list them all, I
should never be able to finish the list. But I have a confession to
make: I did make a list and I got stuck several times, which. is
very embarrassing to me. I was born into a family with a strong
Christian heritage; I was welcomed into God's family at age four; I
have a fantastic teammate husband that I
get to
share the Jonah Dream with; I have five adult children who are my
friends and they each chose great marriage partners; I now have six
precious grandchildren, a wonderful accountability group,
amazing summer staff and employees and volunteers and so much more!
Why is it that I got stuck when making my list? I think it's
because I don't practice enough. Therefore, I will put "Practice
thankfulness" at the top of my 2010 Goal List-and you can keep me
accountable.

BLACK
FRIDAY
has always been a bit of a mystery
to me. I've never understood the need for frenzied shopping on
the day after Thanksgiving during hours when we should be
sleeping-until this year. About seven years ago, I was blessed
with the gift of a laptop. It was getting very old and costing me
lots of time and some lost work. At approximately 4:00 AM on
Black Friday, some angels stood in line at Best Buy (while I was
sleeping) and purchased me (for Jonah) a beautiful, new, amazing
laptop. I feel VERY spoiled-and productive.
Thank
you!

BUS BARN
Thank you so much to those of you who helped make owning the Bus
Barn and Property a reality. We have used it for most of the past
year and our dreams for improvement keep getting bigger and
clearer. We are currently working on a grant that would help us
move into Phase II, which is a very nice and efficient remodel
job. But for now we are just fixing it up to be usable. In
November, we repaired the leaky roof, added some insulation and
sheetrock and soon will be using the lower east half as our Rec
Room. It is situated right next to The Lunch Counter, which is
our camp store and "hang out" area.
Another huge blessing to be thankful for!

MANY HANDS
My Mom used to say quite often, "Many hands make light work." This
has been the year of "Many Hands" at Jonah. It takes the hand of
God to lead us, the hands of employees to keep us running, the
hands of volunteers to lighten the load, the hands of pray-ers to
ease the burden, and the hands of donors to carry the financial
weight. God has been gracious and we are so grateful to Him and to
each of you who are on our team. If you are in the position to give
a year-end gift to your favorite non-profit (well, we assume we're
on your list if you've read this E-News this far), there are two
proposals we have for you:
1.
GENERAL FUND
This year we felt some effects of the recession, so our "normal"
financial struggle became heavier. We gave scholarships we didn't
have so that campers could still experience summer camp (totaling
$10,000), and we've had to work with retreat groups to make 2009
affordable for them. Also, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, retreat
income is always low. Would you consider giving a year-end gift
that would help us move into a healthy 2010?
Â
2.
DINING HALL PROJECT
Our goal this winter is to spend time working on the Dining Hall.
We plan to finish the sheetrock, tape, texture, paint, flooring,
doors, trim and purchase new tables.
If you would like to give toward either project, click above to
donate online or send your year-end gift with a note attached
that says, "Dining Hall" or "General Fund."
THANK YOU!

It's
time!
If you are interested in joining our 2010 Summer Staff, I hope
you have been praying for God's will in this decision. If you are
age 16 or older, you may go to our website after January 1st and
print out the new Staff Application. Pray over it, fill it out,
and send it back to Jonah as soon as you can! We feel strongly
that this will be a summer that will change your life. I wonder
what God has in mind for this year?

THE OFFICE MERRY-GO-ROUND
Harmony is working less,
Donna is taking some time off, and Molly (Lollipop) is home ready
to fill in for both of them. And, Dorina still works from home to
pretty up all of our publications. God keeps providing great women
to share the office jobs. I can't promise who will answer the phone
when you call, but I can promise you'll find a godly, competent,
talented, friendly woman on this end!

WHERE ARE
YOU GOING?
A friend of mine
died a couple of weeks ago. She knew she only had limited time left
and she was certain she was going to be with Jesus. Her life (and
death) has really made me think. I KNOW where I am going when I die
and I'm looking forward to kneeling before my Savior on that day.
If you are not sure where you are headed when you die, please give
me a call or send me an email. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT than the
answer to this question!

PRAYER LIST
I normally make a list of praises and prayer requests here, but I think
I just finished typing them out above. Please scroll through the above
articles and praise God with us, also asking him to bless the requests.
Thank you. We sure appreciate our prayer partners!
