***News Flash*** Creekside Project fundraiser reaches $40,000 mark!!!
We just can’t get over how AMAZING our 10th Anniversary Celebration dinner was. We first imagined maybe 75 people would come; then we began to pray a ridiculous prayer for 150 people. The final number was 188! Then, even more AMAZING was the fact that the whole cost of the dinner was underwritten by a small business. The charge for the evening was used 100% toward the cost involved with putting on the program. And then, an AMAZING amount was raised through cash gifts and pledges! The total to date is now over $40,000!
As Jeff and Grandma and I keep reminiscing, we are just as AMAZED as anyone at what God has accomplished here at Jonah Ministries since 1996. When I sat at the dinner listening to myself talk about Jonah on the “history” video, I was saying to myself, “Wow, AMAZING, this can’t be happening, etc.” God continues to AMAZE us with his provision, blessings, great friendships and staff and employees and campers, and so much more.
As I’m writing this, I hear hammering out in the Creekside Building! The Mt. Adams Meeting Room is being worked on! $40,000 will enable us to finish constructing this room—hopefully before our fall retreat season begins. Jeff is working hard to stretch this money, knowing that it will be used up quickly.
Here’s how the project planning looks:
Phase I: ($30,000)
Mt. Adams Meeting Room: This room will seat 120 and have state-of-the-art audio/visual. It will replace the current meeting room that we’ve already outgrown. The youth leaders are pretty anxious for this room to be completed!
Phase 2: ($5,000)
Two Dorm Rooms: Two dorms that will each sleep 18 will be constructed in what is currently our meeting room. These dorms will be in the same hallway as the two existing dorms. Upon completion, we’ll be able to sleep 84.
Phase 3: ($35,000)
East Wing/Apartment: This will provide private housing for Jeff & Beki Duke, and open up the room they’re currently living in to start a Day Care. If God provides the funding (He’s already provided two fantastic women to run the program), the goal is to open our Day Care this coming fall. A private guest room with bath is also part of this phase.
Phase 4: ($50,000)
West Wing: This wing consists of two more dorms that will sleep 12 each and two ADA accessible bath/shower rooms.
Phase 5: ($30,000)
Creekside Center: We’re pretty excited for this final phase! It will be the coolest “hang out” and meeting area that you’ve ever seen, complete with mountain and creek views. There will be a fireplace, a concession area, recreation games and lots of comfy seating for all of our groups to enjoy.
When the entire Creekside Project is finished, we will then be able to accommodate groups of 100 or more, and have the option to book two smaller groups at one time.
